PICTURED are the talented kids of Notre Dame Secondary School in Churchtown staging their version of the hit musical ‘Legally Blonde’.

It was directed by Elaine Gallagher and the choreographer was Sarah Carpenter.

The auditions were open to the whole school except the Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate years.

Alannah Bermingham from first year was cast in the lead role of ‘Elle Woods’ while ‘Emmett Forrest’ was played by Eilish McDonnell and ‘Professor Callahan’ by Heather Shipman.

The quality of acting, singing and dancing was top class.

They had been working on the show for the past three months which included extra rehearsals over the weekends coming up to opening night.

The atmosphere was electric on the night and the sense of teamwork and bonding that existed between the cast and crew was very visible to all who were present.

One of those involved in the production said that as it was public knowledge the school will be closing in June 2019 there may be a perception that it is winding down.

“This could not be further from the truth,” she said.

“The school is thriving with all sorts of school activities including inter-school debating, educational trips to Edinburgh and the National Concert Hall as well as a full timetable of after-school sports activities, choir and ukulele classes.

“All the teachers are committed to making the learning experience ‘A class’ and that the holistic and child-focused approach that Notre Dame is renowned for, continues for years to come.”
