It’s an Alpine treat for Kilternan

TOP Austrian ski instructors and musicians from St Johann in Tirol welcomed guests and ski fans to Kilternan recently to celebrate Alpine Fest at the Ski Club of Ireland.

The hills of Kilternan came alive with the sound of Austrian music as the ski instructors from the Wilder Kaiser Ski School, including Fred Treffer, Gerhard Hauser, Georg Weihs, Walter Schneider and Hubert Treffer, celebrated the opening of the fabulous new clubhouse.
This is the first phase of developments at the Ski Club of Ireland, which saw the visiting ski instructors arriving from Austria to work with the team of qualified ski and snowboard instructors over an exciting weekend of snowsports
The Irish travel trade is predicting a 20 per cent growth in the ski market this year – with lots of beginners expected to hit the slopes.

The Ski Club of Ireland Kilternan is the National Snowsports Centre for Ireland, and their instructors are all voluntary.
Over the years more than 100,000 people have been introduced to winter sports at Kilternan. Participants include families, children, students, youth groups, corporates, Ireland’s International Racers and the Special Olympics Ski Team.
The Alpine Fest at the Ski Club of Ireland was supported by Crystal Holidays, Highlife, Sunway Holidays and Topflight, together with Great Outdoors, 53 Degrees North, and the Irish Austrian Society, as well as the St Johann Kitzbuehler Alpen Tourist Board.
