Southside PR guru has red hot tips for businesses
Dublin People 17 Sep 2016
A SOUTHSIDE public relations expert has written a new book aimed at helping medium-sized businesses promote themselves.

Ellen Gunning, who is originally from Ringsend and now based in Deansgrange, launched her latest book, ‘Ten Red Hot Tips to Promote Your Business’, earlier this month in Hodges Figgis on Dawson Street.
Ellen is well placed to offer her expert advice in this area. She is a director of the Irish Academy of Public Relations, which she founded in 1992, and has been training students and corporate agencies ever since.
She also chairs the board of directors of Dublin City fm, where she presents a weekly programme, ‘Mediascope’. She has lectured at UCC, UCD, GMIT and is the annual guest lecturer on the MA programme in public relations at DIT.
In ‘Ten Red Hot Tips’, Ellen attempts to cut through the jargon to provide the reader with all the angles to keep the media interested. She outlines the importance of creative thinking, persistence and knowledge of the market in which you are operating – and devoting time to learning and applying these techniques.
The book offers easy-to-understand information on press releases, third party endorsements, press receptions, photo calls, sponsorship, newsletters and e-zines, entertainment opportunities, exhibitions, conferences and social media.
Ellen provides a case study for each chapter so the reader can get a clear indication of how each PR tool works.
‘Ten Red Hot Tips’ is published by Mercier Press and is now available nationwide, priced €12.99.
