Drugs seized in south city centre

The seized drugs

AS PART of Operation Thistle, which is targeting organised criminals in Dublin’s south city centre, gardaí have seized heroin (1 kilo), cocaine (1.75 kilos) and cannabis resin (1.8 kilos), with a combined estimated value of €300,000, pending analysis.

Gardaí from the DMR South Central Division, assisted by members of the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, Special Detective Unit and officers from the Criminal Assets Bureau, carried out a number of planned searches within the Kevin Street District this morning.

The assorted drugs were discovered in two premises, one on York Street and the other in the Mount Browne area.

Two men, aged 22 and mid-40s, have been arrested and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Kevin Street and Kilmainham Garda stations.
