Historic event in Dundrum
Dublin People 07 May 2016
MEADOWBROOK Residents’ Association, Dundrum, are looking forward to their open air Community Day, which takes place from 2pm this Saturday, May 14, at the top of Willow Road, near Meadow Grove junction.

The event will commence with performances by Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Eireann musicians, harpist Mary Kelly, St Attracta’s Choir and well-known local musicians including Pat Killalea. Set dancers and Irish dancers will add to the enjoyment of the day.
The unveiling of their magnificent Harp sculpture will begin with an ecumenical blessing, followed by the official ceremony by two direct descendants of the executed 1916 leaders – Úna Ó Callanáin, granddaughter of Michael Mallin and James Connolly Heron, the great grandson of James Connolly.
Meadowbrook Residents’ Association commissioned the Harp, made from polished Irish granite by sculptor Philip O’Neill, from Kilternan, a craftsman who makes everything by hand, and installed it on Willow Gate Green, near Willow Road.
The wording on the base of the Harp reads ‘I ndíl cuimhne laochra na h- Éireann’ and ‘cherishing all of the children of the nation equally’.
The cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, Cllr Barry Saul, will also be in attendance.
Meadowbrook Residents’ Association said it wanted to acknowledge the generous support of the council for the project and also thanked Dundrum Town Centre for its sponsorship.
All are welcome to attend what should prove to be a memorable event.
The top of Willow Road will be closed from 2pm to 4.30pm.
It should be a historic day.
