DUBLIN Port’s cruise season got off to a spectacular start last week.

THE impressive 333m MSC Splendida, which is the longest ship to ever visit Dublin Port, came to town carrying over 4,600 passengers and crew on board. Heads were turned as the giant of the sea reversed up Dublin Bay past Poolbeg Lighthouse and into the docklands. Passengers who disembarked were greeted to a traditional display of Irish dancing and music.

The return of the MSC Splendida to these shores officially marked the start of Dublin Port’s 2016 cruise season. She is one of 113 cruise calls confirmed for Dublin Port this year – a record number – that will bring over 180,000 visitors to the capital.
