Fancy a classic car with your tea or coffee?

THERE was plenty to whet the appetite of petrolheads on Good Friday as Leo Nulty Promotions hosted a Classic Cars and Coffee event in Baldonnell Business Park.

A large selection of cars was on show at E Fox Engineers Headquarters.
They ranged from from Minis to Mitsubishis and Porsches to Peugeots and featured such classics as a 1988 Lotus Esprit.
Last year’s ‘Minis and Muffins’ event featured the Mini Owners Club and they had over 60 cars turn up.
This year’s ‘Cars and Coffee’ event stemmed from an idea in America over 10 years ago.
It began as a meetup for exotic car owners but has spread all across the world.
The events are privately organised for enthusiasts and owners who get together and share their love of motors.
Organiser Leo Nulty said E Fox Engineers wanted to showcase their trade counter to classic car owners.
This year Jefferson Welding came on board so they could teach people how to weld.
Leo explained that welding is often associated with working on older cars.
”That’s part of classic car ownership, quite a bit,” he said. “Classic car enthusiasts do tend to be hands on.
“It’s not a sales day, people come here and have free tea, coffee and muffins and stand outside and talk classic cars. It is a feel good event.”
Regarding the turnout, Leo said he couldn’t put a figure on the number of those who showed up but said they were very happy with the variety of cars on show.
“It’s been a huge success,” he enthused.
“We don’t know the exact figures but we presume there are 60 or 70 cars here.
“We can quantify that by the amount of coffee gone and I can tell that we are almost out.”
Leo said that because of how well the day went, they will look at holding a similar event again later this year.
“We will do another one, we’re just not sure when,” he added.
