Boy (12) dies as pony and trap collides with truck

GARDAÍ are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on St Cuthberts Road, Clondalkin, this afternoon at approximately 1.40pm.

A 12-year-old boy was fatally injured when the pony and trap he was travelling on was involved in a collision with a truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

The two other boys that were also travelling on the pony and trap were uninjured and did not require hospital treatment.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene.
