A BRAVE cancer survivor is organising a special ‘Evening with Rachel Allen’ next month in a bid to give something back to his local community.

The charity event in aid of LauraLynn and the Blackrock Hospice is being staged by Clif Lenehan, owner of Fenelons Butchers in Stillorgan Shopping Centre, to celebrate the shop’s 50th anniversary.

Clif, who started work in Fenelons in his teens and took over the business in 2007, revealed how he had been diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago.

“Thankfully I have fully recovered,” he said. “Fifty years is a major milestone for any business nowadays and I wanted to celebrate this and my own continuing good health by giving something back to my local community and supporting these two local charities and their fantastic work.”

TV3’s Anna Daly will be taking on the role of MC for ‘An Evening with Rachel Allen’ in the Pavilion at Leopardstown Racecourse on Wednesday, March 2.

Rachel will be showing how to cook some of her favourite seasonal dishes and signing books, and there’ll be local artisan stalls with many local businesses contributing some top raffle prizes. Together she and Anna plan to make it an unforgettable evening of food and fun.

Anna said: “I’ve worked with the team at LauraLynn many times through my filming with Ireland AM and have always been blown away by their fun spirit and playful, upbeat mood despite the underlying sadness.

“After all, it’s a hospice for brave children battling with life limiting diseases, the only one in Ireland, which is hard to believe. As a mother myself this really resonates with me. I’ve been granted some great company in Rachel Allen and look forward to a good chat, plenty of laughs and getting a taste of some of her wonderful dishes.”

Established in 1966, Fenelons Butchers employs 16 staff at its premises in Stillorgan Shopping Centre. It is a certified member of the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland and current Irish champions in its National Spiced Beef Competition. Fenelons was named amongst the top 10 butcher shops in Ireland at the 2015/16 Star Shop Awards.

Tickets for ‘An Evening with Rachel Allen’ with MC Anna Daly at 7.30pm on Wednesday,  March 2 at the Pavilion in Leopardstown Racecourse are €25 in-store but can also be booked online for a small additional fee at www.fenelons.ie
