AS January came to end model Fionnuala Short was busy cashing in pledges of support made by On The Dry participants after an alcohol-free month.
‘Show me the money’ is the blatant message to those who took part to empty their money jars and pay up in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation.
Thousands around the country ditched the booze and took part in the On The Dry campaign supported by 2FM – a revolution in New Year’s resolutions.
Now the push is on to flex those fundraising muscles and call in support promises to raise vital funds to prevent heart disease and stroke.
More than 5,400 participants took part in the unique fundraiser.
In a survey of last year’s participants, 62 per cent said they had better sleep and more energy after taking part.
A further 49 per cent reported losing weight, 79 per cent saved money and 82 per cent said they felt a sense of achievement.
Well known participants included 2FM’s Keith Walsh, comedian Fred Cooke, RTE Southeast correspondent Damien Tiernan and Lucinda Creighton TD.
Every euro raised from On The Dry will support the Irish Heart Foundation’s prevention programmes for children, adults and local communities which are vital to keep more hearts beating around Ireland.
The Irish Heart Foundation is the national charity fighting heart disease and stroke and is funded by public donations.
Their vision is that every person living in Ireland will live a long, active and healthy life free from heart disease.
