THERE was an unusual sight in Dublin’s two greyhound stadia throughout November, as numerous hairy upper lips made an appearance – on both men and women.

It was of course part of the global Movember campaign, which Shelbourne Park, Harold’s Cross and seven other greyhound stadia supported through their ‘Movember Deal of the Month’ package.

More than 1,100 customers enjoyed the package and the Irish Greyhound Board was delighted to donate a cheque worth €2,378 to the Movember Foundation on their behalf.

For every Movember Deal of the Month package sold, €2 was donated to the campaign. The package, priced at €11.95, included admission and race programme (which alone is worth €10), a house beer or wine, chicken tenders, chips & dip, and a false moustache so all could be part of the spirit of Movember.

Encouraged to share their Mo pictures using #DogsWithMos on social media, customers also had a chance to win an iPad Air. The lucky winner was SaraJayne Whittle from Waterford, who shared a snap from her night out in Kilcohan Park Greyhound Stadium. Along with Shelbourne Park and Harold’s Cross, greyhound stadia in Cork, Galway, Limerick, Mullingar, Newbridge, Tralee and Waterford all took part in the fun. Behind the jovial hairy exterior, Movember raises funds for men’s health charities such as the Irish Cancer Society, and is committed to men living happier, healthier and longer lives.
