Garda appeal for witnesses after murder at Oliver Bond complex

GARDAÍ at Kevin Street investigating the murder of Lorcan O’Reilly are appealing for witnesses.

O’Reilly (21) was fatally stabbed at the Oliver Bond Flats complex, Dublin 8, on Sunday, November 1 between 2am and 3am. He was taken to Saint James’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A post mortem was carried out by the State Pathologist Doctor Bolster yesterday.

The scene was preserved and a forensic and technical examination was carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau. A thorough search of the area has also been conducted.

An incident room has been established at Kevin Street Garda Station and a senior investigating officer, a family liaison officer and a team of detectives have been appointed in this case.

House to house enquiries continue to be carried out and up to 100 calls have been conducted to date.

In a statement, Superintendent Patrick McMenamin at Kevin Street Garda Station wished to acknowledge the excellent assistance and co-operation received from the community of the Oliver Bond complex.

He said that a number of people were present who know what occurred or are in possession of information to assist this investigation and he appealed to them to come forward by contacting Kevin Street Garda Station (01-6669400) or the Garda Confidential Line (1800-666111).
