Mulhuddart duo shine with Irish title wins

Two young fighters from Mulhuddart Boxing Academy have put their club firmly on the national stage, striking gold at the Irish Under-23 and Under-15 Boxing Championships and proving that the local academy is producing champions of real pedigree.
Rebecca Kavanagh once again underlined her talent by claiming her second Under-23 national title.
Already considered one of the standout young fighters in the country, Rebecca’s success adds to a growing list of achievements.
Her relentless work in the gym, day after day, has now been rewarded with an even greater opportunity: she will represent Ireland in the upcoming European Championships.
This is a significant step up for any athlete, and it speaks volumes about Rebecca’s commitment to the sport.
To win at national level is impressive, but to earn a place on the international stage is something very few achieve.
Her clubmates and coaches believe she has what it takes to make a strong impact in Europe, and her recent victory has only reinforced that belief.
At the same time, Mulhuddart Boxing Academy was able to celebrate the breakthrough success of Elliemay Featherston.
Competing at Under-15 level, Elliemay captured her first ever national crown, a result that has marked her out as one of the brightest new prospects in Irish boxing.
For any young athlete, the first national title is often the hardest to win, but it can also open the door to greater things.
For Elliemay, this success has already sparked talk of her own potential European Championship selection. While she is at the beginning of her journey, she has shown the determination and raw talent that could take her far in the sport.
These victories are not just personal triumphs. They are also a reflection of what Mulhuddart Boxing Academy has built over the years.
The club has long emphasised values of commitment, resilience, and community spirit.
It is in that supportive environment that boxers like Rebecca and Elliemay are able to thrive.
The academy’s reputation continues to grow, with each new champion reinforcing the message that Mulhuddart is producing fighters who can compete at the very highest level.
The club has also been keen to acknowledge those who have supported its journey.
Long-standing sponsor Knife-Edge has played a vital role in ensuring that the academy’s doors remain open and that its young athletes are given the best chance to succeed.
In the often challenging world of amateur boxing, such support can make all the difference, and the club was quick to recognise the impact their sponsors have had in helping to nurture champions.
In a statement, the academy summed up the mood: “We couldn’t be prouder of Rebecca and Elliemay.
Their achievements are richly deserved, and they’ve done the entire Mulhuddart community proud.”
For those eager to see the champions in action, both Rebecca and Elliemay will be stepping through the ropes once again at the academy’s 15-year anniversary show this Saturday, October 4, at St Peregrine’s GAA.
More than just a night of boxing, the event promises to be a celebration of the fighters, the club, and the community that has backed them every step of the way.
With Rebecca preparing for the European stage and Elliemay just beginning what looks set to be a glittering career, the show will offer a glimpse of two stars on the rise, and a reminder that the best of Mulhuddart Boxing Academy is still to come.
