Drone framework can’t come soon enough for Dubs, say Fine Gael TDs

A policy framework to pave the way for regulation of drone activity is to be published in the coming weeks giving some hope to Dublin residents experiencing a surge of activity over their homes in recent months, two Fine Gael Dublin TDs have said.
Deputy Currie said: “I’m pleased that Government recognises that we need to deal with this issue now. Residents in Dublin West have been acclimatising to regular drone deliveries for over a year now and feel proper regulation is well overdue.
Deputy O’Connell said: “In my own constituency of Dublin Rathdown, there is a plan to open a drone delivery hub right beside the Holy Cross Church in the heart of Dundrum village. This week in the Dáil I asked the Taoiseach to ensure that this framework provide protections for our religious and community spaces, where people should be able to gather with peace of mind and without disturbance from drones overhead.
“This policy framework should provide clarity, allay fears and demonstrate we are prepared for a new reality which up to now has caused much frustration for Dubliners.”
