Arrest and seizure of €3.2 million worth of cannabis in Blanchardstown

Gardai seized €3.2 million of suspected cannabis during an operation in Blanchardstown yesterday.

As part of the operation, Gardaí intercepted and searched a vehicle on the M50, at approximately 5pm yesterday.

During the course of the search, 162 kilograms of suspected herbal cannabis was seized.

The seized drugs have an estimated value of €3.2 million.

The seized drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

A Garda spokesperson said:

“A male (aged in his 50’s) was arrested in connection with the operation and is currently detained pursuant to the provisions of Section 2 of Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda station in the north Dublin area.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
