St Brigid’s a winning Photography Group with a very Handsome Snail
Padraig Conlon 15 Jan 2024BLANCHARDSTOWN-based St Brigid’s Photo Group achieved great results in the Irish Photographic Federation’s National Shield All-Ireland Club Competition recently.
The Photo Group tied for second with their Colour Panel of 8 beautiful images, and two members won a Bronze Medal and received an Honorable Mention for their images from the panel.
The image of a snail by Stephanie Ryan grasped the judge’s attention for its clarity, creativity and simply he was a very handsome snail winning a Bronze Medal in the Individual Colour Image Category. Terry Smyth’s beautiful sunrise image from Luttrellstown Golf Club received an Honorable Mention.
The Photo Group are delighted with the results which were announced at the competition held in Drogheda recently.
The Group’s chairman explained, ‘this is the first time we have successfully achieved such results in this All-Ireland Club competition, and it is thanks to our members who submitted images for the panels and the committee group who worked very hard to put the panel submissions together. We are delighted with the outcome, and this will encourage our members to do more for next year.’
The Photo Group had to submit two panels with 8 photographs in both colour and a black and white panel which were chosen from over 90 images from members.
The panels included photos of members in the Novice, Intermediate and Advanced groups within the club.
St Brigid’s Photo Group will celebrate being together for 21 years next year.
The Group are currently planning a celebration trip to Iceland in the new year.
They meet every Tuesday evening at 8pm in the Parish Centre at Blanchardstown Church.
New members are welcome anytime during the year.
The Group is a volunteer group with a passion of ‘capturing life in all its forms” in photography.
The experienced photographers in the Group are wonderful in guiding, supporting, and encouraging those who really want to develop the skill of photography to capture their best shot.
The membership comes from a broad area, spanning many local communities and across Fingal County area.
This vibrant and active club is always on the go with activities that include exhibitions, monthly photo competitions, workshops, studio sessions, monthly outings and a number of social events during the year.
Some of their recent trips include shoots in Clare, Waterford, Hook Peninsula, Copper Coast and Lough Derg, the Wild Atlantic Way in Mayo, Saltee Islands, and trips abroad recently include Porto, Lisbon, Bologna, Krakow, Madrid, Barcelona, London, Venice, Prague and are planning trips to anywhere in the world with opportunities to photograph the world and its inhabitants.
