Aldi opens new store in Hamilton Gardens, Cabra

ALDI has opened a new store in Cabra yesterday, creating 30 new permanent jobs in the process.

Located in Hamilton Gardens in Cabra, the store was officially opened in the presence of the local team and store manager Jamie Stephens.

The new store is ALDI’s 26th to open in County Dublin. The supermarket now operates 157 stores around Ireland.

Last year ALDI announced a plan to expand its store network in Dublin to include €73 million investment in 11 new stores over the next five years.

The new stores will see the creation of 350 full-time permanent jobs and 550 construction jobs over the period.

The retailer currently employs 673 people in Dublin with a €20.3 million total salary spend across its 26 stores in the county.

Speaking at the Cabra store opening, Jamie Stephens, store manager said: “This new €2.8 million store in Cabra is the latest step in ALDI’s expansion programme and I’m delighted to open our 26th store in Dublin today.

“This new store, and the 30 new jobs created, will support our ambition to deliver value to the people of Ireland at the locations most convenient to them.

“As a leading retailer in Ireland, we are very conscious of the current challenges facing consumers and businesses.

“The cost-of-living crisis is impacting every household and we know what it means for our customers.

“Working alongside our strong network of local suppliers, we will continue to work hard, mindful of the challenges facing our customers and supporting them where we can.”
