Judge grants detention order on €107,000 in cash seized by Revenue officers at Dublin Airport

Revenue officers have been granted a three-month cash detention order by Judge Vincent Deane following the seizure on Sunday of over €107,000 at Dublin Airport.

In a statement, a Revenue spokesperson said that “the cash was discovered, as a result of routine profiling, when Revenue officers stopped and searched a passenger prior to boarding a flight to Istanbul, Turkey.

“The cash is suspected to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activity and is detained by Revenue in accordance with proceeds of crime legislation.”

Investigations are ongoing.
