Passengers left waiting up to 90 minutes for 40 bus

For the past two weeks Finglas residents have reported bus cancellations which have left them waiting up to 90 minutes in the cold.

The reports relate to both the 40 and the 40E and has resulted in people missing important appointments, late collections for childcare and arriving late for college and work.

Fianna Fáil T.D for Dublin North West, Paul McAuliffe, has criticised Dublin Bus, saying they are providing ‘an unacceptable level of service.’

“I have been inundated with complaints about the poor service operation of the 40-bus route in recent weeks,” he said.

“The bus provides a vital link between Finglas and the City Centre, yet in recent weeks busses haven’t appeared and have been frequently cancelled as people wait.

“This is an unacceptable level of service which needs to be improved.

“I have contacted the management of Dublin Bus who cite short staffing but if this is the case it should be impacting the whole network.

“It seems other parts of the city are getting new high frequency routes but Finglas is getting a raw deal.”
