New North Runway at Dublin Airport opens today

The new North Runway at Dublin Airport officially opens at lunchtime today.

3.1 kilometres in length, the runway was built in six years at a cost of €320m.

It consists of 300,000 sqm of runway which is serviced by 6km of new roads and 2,000 taxi lights for aircraft.

It is hoped the runway will increase connectivity for Dublin Airport by 31% by 2034.

The first flight to depart from the new runway will be broadcast live on the Dublin Airport YouTube channel between 11.30-12.30.
