The retirement has taken place of Mary Brady, Director of the Tir na nOg Nursery in Ballymun.

At an event to mark the occasion, local TD Róisín Shortall unveiled a plaque to acknowledge Mary’s contribution to children’s services in Ballymun over the past 40 years.

“Mary Brady set up and has been running Tir na nOg since 1982,” Deputy Shortall said.

“In that period she has been responsible for early years care and education for thousands of children in the general Ballymun area.

“The centre caters for 120 pre-school children every year and is recognised as a centre of excellence.

“There are very few people who have had such a hugely positive impact on so many people’s lives in Ballymun as Mary Brady”.

“Mary has been highly valued by parents and children alike and has also provided top class training for many early years staff.

“The fantastic facility on Sillogue Rd will continue to provide quality children’s services and will stand as a testament to Mary Brady’s outstanding service to the people of Ballymun.

“I thank her and wish her the very best in her well-earned retirement”, said Ms Shortall
