The Fianna Fáil group in DCC say they are calling on Council colleagues to support a Fianna Fáil amendment at this evenings City Council meeting that will provide for an increase in the number affordable homes on the Oscar Traynor Road site.

Ahead of this evening’s meeting, Cllr Deirdre Heney said: “If the amendment is agreed, it will increase the number of affordable purchase units by 88, which would provide for 260 affordable purchase homes, out of a total of 853 homes, proposed to be constructed on this huge site.

“The Fianna Fáil group recognise that the vast majority of our citizens still want to own their own home.

“My colleagues and I will strive to provide as much of an opportunity as possible to those whose current income level prevents them from doing so.

“If our amendment is passed, it will increase the number of affordable units available on the site, from 20% to 30%.

“The Minister for Housing, Darragh O’Brien, has increased by €50,000 to €100,000 per site, the amount of funds available to provide for affordable purchase homes under the Serviced Sites Fund.

“The proposed purchase price of a one bed home will be priced from €204,000, a two bed from €227,000 and a three-bed home from €250,000.”

Tonight’s adjourned November meeting of Dublin City Council is due to make a final decision of the future of the Oscar Traynor Road site.
