Fingal County Council, in partnership with the Football Association of Ireland, has appointed Sean Moore as the new Football in the Community Development Officer in Dublin 15, as part of a team of six FAI development officers working to develop football and support clubs in the region.

Sean has worked as an auxiliary coach for eight years on many different programmes within the FAI with ample experience coaching at grassroots and League of Ireland levels and has also represented his country as assistant coach at the IFCPF World Cup with the Irish Paralympic Team.

He has an Honours Degree from IT Carlow in Sports Management and Coaching and is keen to bring his academic and practical sports experience to Dublin 15.

Mayor of Fingal Cllr. David Healy said: “Sport can improve the health, skills and confidence of individuals and communities alike.

“The collaboration between Fingal and our NGB partners in providing sports officers across Fingal is testament to our recognition of these benefits.

“I commend Sean’s appointment and look forward to the growth and success of football in Dublin 15.”

Chief Executive of Fingal County Council AnnMarie Farrelly said: “The importance of the development of sport and physical activity in communities around Fingal cannot be understated.

“We have all seen the importance of healthy lifestyles over the last 12 months as the Covid-19 pandemic has changed how we live, work and exercise.

“Fingal is delighted to work in collaboration with our NGB partners to support nine co-funded sports officers through the FAI, Leinster Rugby, Leinster Cricket and Tennis Ireland and we are committed to increasing physical activity levels within Fingal.”

Newly-appointed Football in the Community Development Officer Sean Moore said: “I’m delighted to be a part of the team in Fingal and my primary objective will be the rollout of school programmes, the development of women’s football and the implementation of the FAI Club Mark Programme.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to know the people and the clubs and supporting them as best I can over the coming months and years.”

FAI regional manager Barry Ferguson said: “I am delighted to welcome Sean to both the FAI and Fingal.

“Fingal County Council were one of the first councils to co-fund development officers with the FAI in 2006/7 and they continue to lead the way in their support and commitment to sport development.

“I have no doubt Sean will make a great contribution to the development of football in Fingal.”
