HUNDREDS of people queued outside Liberty Hall in Dublin recently in the hope of landing work as a paid extra in a new film starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

‘The Last Duel’ is an Epic Period feature film which will soon be shooting in various parts of Ireland over the coming months. It will be directed by the legendary Ridley Scott and will star Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Adam Driver and Jodie Comer.

Filming will mostly take place around Dublin, Wicklow, Meath and Tipperary.

Affleck, Damon and Nicole Holofcener have written the screenplay which is based on the book ‘The Last Duel’, by Eric Jager. Set in Medieval France, the story is an epic tale of betrayal and justice.

Lots of film extras will be required for huge crowd scenes and open casting sessions took place late last month at Liberty Hall, with queues forming from early morning.

Hollywood heavyweights Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are both as renowned for their writing talents as they are for their acting roles.

In 1998, they won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for ‘Good Will Hunting’, which they both starred in. Affleck received widespread acclaim for his Oscar winning film ‘Argo’.

Director Ridley Scott is best-known for films such as ‘Alien’, ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘Gladiator’.

Ireland continues to be a popular destination for major films and TV productions, including ‘Game of Thrones’ and the recent ‘Star Wars’ films which featured Skellig Michael in Kerry.
