Locals celebrate at fashion awards

A FASHION awards event that took place on the Northside has raised over €10,000 for the charity LauraLynn. 

The Project Fashion Young Designer of the Year Awards 2019 took place at Tamangos in Portmarnock.

On the night there was also a prize for the student who raised the most money. Beth Brady, from the Project Fashion Navan class, raised €746 and received a zebra print sewing machine from WM Trimmings for her efforts.

The Young Fashion Designer of the Year 2019 awards were presented by The VIP Style Awards’ Most Stylish Woman 2019 and 2fm radio host Jennifer Zamparelli.

Grace Moore, fashion stylist to Saoirse Ronan and Hozier; Karen Kirby, founder of Kirbee.ie children’s wear; and Leigh Tucker, founder of Willow Kids Collection @ Dunnes Stores were the judges.

Ireland’s Got Talent 2019 winners, BSD, a dance group from Swords, and Eva Campbell, a very talented singer from Skerries who featured on The Voice UK 2019, performed on the night.

The winners of the three categories were: 

• Advanced: 1st James McCann – Greystones; 2nd Lucy Goodman – Malahide; 3rd Caoilinn Doyle – Donabate

• Intermediate: 1st Imogen Lawlor – Naas; 2nd Alanna Stewart – Malahide; 3rd Choni Wong – Greystones

• Beginners: 1st Katie Grace McDonnell – Santry;

2nd Mya O'Sullivan – Clontarf; 3rd Kathleen Hallinan – Leixlip

Paul Alexander founded Project Fashion in 2014. He had a passion to ‘Create a launch pad to potential future Irish Fashion Designers’ and wanted to pass on his wealth of knowledge and experience to the younger generation.
