Special delivery by Finglas firefighters

MUM-TO-BE Tracey Quinn had made preparations for a natural, calm birth but her newborn baby had other plans and ended up being delivered by firefighters from Finglas.

Tracey had hoped baby Willow would be born in the birthing pool at Coombe Maternity Hospital but three days before the due date, Willow decided it was time to meet the family.
Tracey’s husband Billy called an ambulance at 8.35am on Wednesday, May 22, and their beautiful baby was born just five minutes after they arrived.
“There must have been eight firemen and paramedics in the room," blogger Tracey told familyfriendlyhq.ie.
"A special mention to Kevin Sheehan an advanced paramedic who was honestly incredible. He was so reassuring, encouraging and got me through it. I’ll never ever forget him.
“When they arrived I was scared and in a huge panic but also relieved as there were medical professionals beside me. They also had gas and air, which I personally feel I couldn't have managed without.
"I literally had it for five minutes as I pushed her out but it was amazing and gave me so much relief!"
Last week Tracey and Billy took baby Willow and son Peter to personally thank the paramedics and firefighters from Finglas C Watch.
“After realising there was no time to make it to hospital mum and dad called for an ambulance,” a spokesperson posted on Facebook.
“Our emergency service controllers recognised the urgency of the call and dispatched a fire engine simultaneously with the ambulance.”
