Paul Reid gets top HSE job

FINGAL County Council chief executive Paul Reid has been appointed as the new Director General of the Health Service Executive.

   Mr Reid will leave his position on May 13 after the final monthly meeting of the current council.

Mr Reid said: “It is both an honour and a privilege to have been appointed to such an important role that impacts on the lives of everyone in the State.

"However, it will certainly be with a heavy heart that I will leave Fingal County Council.  I can say for sure that being in the role as chief executive of Fingal for the past five years has been the best and most fulfilling job that I have had in my career to date.

"I have had the opportunity to make an impact on the quality of life of all of the people, businesses and communities of Fingal that we serve."

Mr Reid said a lot has been achieved over the last five years. 

 "I was delighted when I came in 2014 to find a body of councillors who were committed to the council’s vision of making Fingal the place of choice in Ireland to live, work, visit and do business," he said. "Over the past five years, there was always a willingness to find the best solution for the people of Fingal.

“The quality, commitment and calibre of staff in Fingal made my job extremely rewarding. Fingal County Council is highly respected across a whole range of stakeholders for being a highly innovative and 'can do' council.”
