Sports facility proposed for Porterstown
Dublin People 09 Feb 2019
A PUBLIC consultation process has opened on a proposed combined all-weather running track and sports pitch at Porterstown Park, Dublin 15.
If approved, the proposal will result in the development of a major new active recreational facility available for use by local clubs, schools and community groups in the wider Blanchardstown area.
The project includes the first-ever public floodlit all-weather athletics track provided by Fingal County Council designed to meet daytime and evening training requirements for a wide range of sporting codes.
The Third Generation floodlit sports pitch will be available for both training and competition purposes.
The council said it’s looking forward to constructive engagement with local sports clubs in relation to what they described as “exciting proposals”.
“This continues the council’s commitment to deliver state-of-the-art facilities in the Dublin 15 area,” said Director of Planning and Strategic Infrastructure, AnnMarie Farrelly.
“It is really important that the local residents can see facilities being delivered to their communities.
“The public consultation allows the public to raise any issues they may have with the proposal, which the council always takes into consideration.”
Plans and particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection until Wednesday, March 6 at Fingal County Council offices in Swords and Blanchardstown.
They are also available to view or download from http://consult.fingal.ie/en/browse.
Written submissions or observations may be made in writing until March 21 to: Senior Executive Officer, Planning and Strategic Infrastructure Department, Fingal County Council, Main Street, Swords, Co Dublin.
