THE Just Eat National Takeaway Awards confirmed what everybody in Ballymun already knows – the best pizzas in Ireland are baked on the Northside.

Firehouse Pizza has won best takeaway pizza at the awards three years running, but this year the local food business also scooped the best takeaway Dublin and best takeaway Ireland accolades.

Speaking to Food and Wine magazine, managing director of Just Eat, Amanda Roche-Kelly, congratulated Firehouse and all the winners.

"The Just Eat National Takeaway Awards are bigger and better in their fifth year with continued growth year on year in nominations, votes, and even in the cuisines themselves,” she said.

“This is an important occasion in the industry’s calendar as local restaurant favourites are celebrated and acknowledged on a national scale.

“I’d like to congratulate everyone involved and nominated tonight, especially the winners, and in particular Firehouse Pizza, Ballymun who have been awarded the Best Takeaway in Ireland."

Shortlisted representatives from all over Ireland joined Just Eat representatives to applaud the best takeaway restaurants and dishes in the country at the awards held at an exclusive event hosted by Cassie Stokes and Jake Carter at Number Twenty-Two, South Anne Street.

There were 22 categories this year with Camile Thai, Phibsborough joining Firehouse as Northside winners, picking up the Best Takeaway Thai and Best Takeaway Healthy awards.

The Best Takeaway Curryaward went to another Northside business, San Sab in Drumcondra.
