Construction back on at Avondale
Dublin People 25 Aug 2018
WORK has recommenced at a Fingal County Council social housing site in Dublin 15 which was affected by the contractor going into liquidation after the collapse of the UK contractor Carillion.
Despite the difficulty, the council acted swiftly to minimise the delay and now has a new contractor on site at Avondale in Mulhuddart and the 42 houses are scheduled to be delivered in mid-2019.
“It was extremely unfortunate what happened but such issues are to be expected to arise from time to time when delivering a significant construction programme,” said Margaret Geraghty, Fingal County Council’s Director of Housing and Community.
“We are delighted to have minimised the delay in recommencing construction.”
At present Fingal County Council has 198 social homes under construction at seven sites across the county.
Construction also commenced recently at Ladyswell Crescent, Church Road, Mulhuddart, where Fingal County Council is building 22 houses in a project that is scheduled for delivery in mid-2019.
