Ballymun author to give talk in Trinity
Dublin People 30 Jun 2018
BALLYMUN author and journalist, Seamus Kelly, has been invited to give a talk at Trinity College.

Despite describing himself as a “poorly educated man”, Seamus is enjoying success with his recently published book, ‘It’s Written in Concrete’, which champions positive news in the Ballymun area.
He is now due to give a talk and presentation on his book to lecturers and geography students at Trinity College.
Seamus had been forced to leave school early due to a serious heart condition and spent a number of years convalescing. As a result, he only had a basic fourth class national school education.
Prior to his illness, from the age of nine, he worked on a milk round in Cabra West from 4am before going straight into school. In the late 1950s, he worked as a messenger boy, delivering meat for a butchers to bring income into his Cabra West home.
Little did he know then that he would go on to run his own local newspaper, Ballymun Concrete News, as well as write for national and regional titles and pen his first book.
Throughout his career as a journalist, Seamus has always tried to promote Ballymun in a positive light, despite the often negative depiction of the area in the mainstream media.
Seamus also dedicated 40 years of his life doing voluntary work as a community activist in Ballymun.
Seamus Kelly’s new book is available in Eason bookstores in Omni Park Shopping Centre, Santry and Clare Hall Shopping Centre, Malahide Road. It can also be found at Axis Ballymun, Nan’s SuperValu, Main Street Ballymun, and Magner’s Pharmacy, Swords Road, Santry.
The book can be ordered online through the Manuscript Publisher, Finglas, Amazon and eBay.
