Ballymun book launch
Dublin People 26 May 2018A NEW book by a veteran local journalist is being launched in Axis Ballymun on June 7.
‘It’s Written in Concrete’ by Seamus Kelly addresses the challenges and opportunities that modern media presents, not just in terms of how news is delivered, but also in how it’s presented and reported.
Kelly fought a career-long battle against sensationalised press portrayals of his beloved Ballymun by creating and producing a more sensitive, positive journalistic style of news reporting.
His newspaper, Ballymun Concrete News, provided locals with a positive news source between 1998 and 2006.
The paper started as a single-page newsletter but it gathered support from people in the community and progressively grew into a two, four and eventually eight page monthly tabloid.
It’s Written in Concrete will be launched by former Ballymun Garda sergeant, Karl Heller, in Axis on June 7.
The launch event starts at 7pm and music will be provided by local rock band, Dextra.
It promises to be a great night. Admission is free but those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to Axis by calling 01-8832100 or 01-8832120.
