Leo supports local family

TAOISEACH Leo Varadkar met a family from Dublin 15 in Cork last week for the launch of an awareness day for a very rare genetic disorder.

Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) and Tom O'Donovan is one of just 40 people in Ireland with the condition.

At present, there is very little awareness about the condition that exists at birth but is often misdiagnosed due to lack of awareness and knowledge – even among medical professionals.

Eleanor O’Kelly Lynch, coordinator for the CdlS Foundation in Ireland said: “The support we have received from so many people has been amazing and we can’t thank people enough.

“CdLS is such a rare condition here in Ireland and there is very little awareness about it at the moment.”
