NORTHSIDERS can look forward to healthier futures if a new HSE plan for Dublin North City & County achieves its aim.

The Healthy Ireland Implementation plan sets out the HSE’s commitment for the implementation of actions designed to help communities enjoy health and wellbeing and enable locals to reach their full potential.

The ambitious five-year plan aims to maximise the potential of services and healthcare teams in Dublin North City & County to benefit locals.

The Healthy Ireland framework is being implemented to address emerging trends leading to an unhealthy future. For example, almost half of people over 50 have at least one chronic disease, one in 10 over 50 have diabetes and one in five children are overweight.

Implementing the Healthy Ireland plan for Dublin North City & County will mean a shift in focus to promoting health and wellbeing, and the prevention of chronic disease says Anne O’Connor, HSE National Director for Community Operations.

“We are in a position to effect real change and make a meaningful difference to people’s lives,” she said.

“Health and wellbeing and prevention needs to be at the heart of all our services “

Through collaboration and coordination, the HSE say its vision of lifelong health for the people of Dublin North City & County can be achieved.
