Vincent honoured at NHI awards

CASTLEKNOCK resident, Vincent Corrigan, was declared Resident Achievement Award Winner at this year’s Nursing Homes Ireland Care Awards.

RTE presenter Marty Whelan hosted the awards ceremony at Citywest Hotel, which attracted over 400 representatives from the nursing home, older person care and health sectors.

Tadhg Daly, Nursing Homes Ireland CEO, congratulated Vincent of Mount Hybla for his achievement.

“The Resident Achievement Award is a very special honour that recognises the wonderful people at the centre of nursing home life – the residents,” he said.

“Vincent epitomises the positive contribution nursing home residents can make towards nursing home life and wider society.

“He is exemplar of the positive intergenerational engagement that is being undertaken between old and young within our nursing homes in communities across Ireland.

“Unwittingly, the intergenerational engagement that is a common feature within our nursing homes is broadening the horizons of our youth, fostering respect and admiration amongst children and teenagers for older people. The educational initiative between Mount Hybla and Mount Sackville, with Vincent leading the way, epitomises the positive of such engagement.” 

Other Northside winners at the awards included Dolores Reidy, Imelda Andrews and Imelda Thornton of Cara Care Centre, Santry, who won the Nursing Home Innovations in Dementia Care Award.

Matthew Lacey of Cara Care Centre & TLC Santry was another local winner picking up the Nursing Home Ancillary Worker Award.
