VIDEO: Shocking footage of fire at Blanchardstown apartments

Shocking video footage has emerged showing a devastating fire tearing through an apartment complex in Blanchardstown this week.

Six fire engines were deployed by Dublin Fire Brigade on Wednesday evening to tackle the blaze which left dozens of residents homeless.

There were no injuries but the fire at Verdemont estate in Coolmine caused extensive damage.

Firefighters were alerted by a 999 call made just after 5pm. Alert residents sounded the alarm in the complex and began to evacuate the area.

Firefighters set up an incident command unit and managed to contain the fire by 7pm with the help of a 100ft turntable ladder and the use of a drone aircraft.
