LOCAL soccer club have Corduff FC reached new heights before the summer season has even started after an extended run in the SFAI All-Ireland competitions and the LFA over 35 provisional competition.

The club’s teams racked up an impressive four Leinster titles in 10 days winning at U12, U14 and U16 in the SFAI Leinster region and over 35 LFA level.

Corduff FC over 35s beat a Finglas United side littered with ex Junior international FAI junior cup winners, ex league of Ireland players and an English first division regular.

It was a great final played between two teams of old school, committed players, which it would seem are a dying breed in the modern senior game.

A 3-1 win over the Finglas team with a man-of-the-match performance from Tommy Kelly was enough to take home the big one in over 35 football from Oscar Traynor Road.

The schoolboy section at Corduff FC has yet to start its summer soccer season but thanks to a great extended run in the SFAI competitions, competitive football was on-going while most other clubs had been on their break from the short season of 2016.

The Corduff haul started out at St Kevin’s when the under 16s won 2-0 in a well deserved victory. Next up was the under 12s who beat Ardee Celtic 4-1 with an exhibition of football followed by the under 14s who beat Ardee Celtic on penalties in a tight affair.

It might have been even better as Corduff FC’s under 13 premiers and  under 15 premiers both exited the competition at the semi final stage, both by way of penalty shoot outs.

However, the club is delighted with its accomplishments and looks forward to the summer season.

There are some openings at under 8, 9, 11, 12 and 15 level among the club’s 28 teams.
