Chamber’s concern over ‘glaring transport gap’

THE recent granting of permission for a huge office development in a new 70-acre business park at Dublin Airport will create a glaring gap in transport infrastructure according to the North Dublin Chamber.
The decision to grant permission was welcomed by the Chamber, which described it as “a tremendous boost for business and employment in the area”
“North Dublin Chamber has been a strong supporter of the development of Airport Central to realise the potential of Dublin Airport to bring economic benefit to the area,” said Ellen Drumm, President of North Dublin Chamber.
“We think there is big potential for further growth supported by strong local businesses.”
However, the business representative group also warned that the expansion of the Airport, the expansion of DCU and the regeneration of Ballymun, has resulted in a glaring gap in transport infrastructure to support the extra workers and increased movement of goods over the next few years.
The North Dublin Chamber is calling for advancement of Metro North to the earliest possible date to ensure investments being made locally will bring economic growth and jobs to the area.
The Department of Transport said recently it wouldn’t be possible to advance the Metro North plan.
