Firearm and ammunition seized as man arrested in Finglas

Gardaí have arrested a man and seized a firearm and ammunition following an operation in Finglas yesterday afternoon.

In an operation conducted by gardaí attached to the Special Crime Task Force and Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, a man was observed acting suspiciously in the Ballygall area of Finglas.

He fled from gardaí and after a chase through a number of gardens a 41-year-old man was arrested. He was found in possession of a sawn-off shotgun (subject to technical examination) and ammunition.

He was arrested and is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939, as amended, at Finglas Garda Station.
