NORTHSIDE gym, 1escape Health Club, broke a Guinness World Record for the largest exercise ball class ever at Smithfield Market on National Fitness Day, September 16.

The locally based club had called on its members and local residents to join them for the attempt that was hosted by Irish Rugby Legend, Alan Quinlan, who is a coach from TV’s ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ series.

And an incredible 433 participants from the community, young and old, answered the call to ensure the previous record of 391, achieved by Müllerlight in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on August 2, was broken.

Official Guinness World Records judge, Sofia Greenacre, was there on the day to count and verify the fun fitness record as it was broadcast live on Facebook.

Ciara Lefroy, sales and marketing Director of 1escape, was more than happy to see the record go to the Northside.

“We are delighted with the turnout and even more excited to see so many people getting active and having fun,” she said.

“We really hope that the event has inspired more people to get active and look after their health.”
