TWO tech savvy, street smart, go-getters from St Mary’s Holy Faith, Glasnevin, impressively made it through to the recent final of the Foróige Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2016.

Young entrepreneurs Hannah Ryan Murphy and Aimee Flanagan attended the finals at the Mansion House after being shortlisted from 1,000 young entrepreneurs who set up start-up businesses as part of Foróige’s Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) programme.

The programme empowers young people to develop core skills in business and enterprise to help them unlock their individual talents and potential.

Seven businesses from Tipperary, Dublin, Donegal and Sligo participated in the final and showcased their businesses and products to judges and guests at the awards event.

Hannah and Aimee’s start-up enterprise is called Tech Solutions, which produces tech kit to stop small technological annoyances and help people’s existing tech products last longer.

Their products include equipment to prevent phone chargers and earphones from tangling and breaking. Their business slogan is ‘You have a tech problem, We have a tech solution’.

Congratulating all the finalists Sean Campbell, Chief Executive, Foróige said: “The young entrepreneurs chosen to compete in the final are creative, assertive, idea generators that have their fingers on the pulse and make things happen.

“Their entrepreneurial passion is unquenchable and I have no doubt that many will go on to run successful businesses in their future lives.”

The winner was determined by a competitive 20 minute Elevator Pitch to the judging panel. Comfy Crutch, an enterprise by students from Mercy College, Sligo, was the overall winner.
