DUBLIN GAA star, Alan Brogan, joined a host of celebrities and heart hero survivors at the CHQ Building last week to launch the Irish Heart Foundation’s Happy Heart Appeal that takes place this Thursday and Friday (May 5 & 6).

The appeal calls on the public to buy a happy heart from local volunteers who’ll be collecting in several locations across the city.

Money collected will go towards vital prevention and patient supports to help more people live longer, healthier lives and reduce premature death from heart disease and stroke.

Brogan has lent his considerable voice to the campaign to ask Northsiders to show their support for the appeal.

“I think this campaign by the Irish Heart Foundation is a hugely important one in all our lives,” he said.

“Lots of people across Ireland struggle with heart disease and associated illnesses every year and through this – and others – campaign awareness is being raised.

“For me, it’s important on a personal level that where I can give a little back I do, and that’s why I’m supporting the Irish Heart Foundation’s Happy Hearts Appeal this year.”

Brogan was joined at the launch event by a host of famous faces including RTE broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan, model Hayley Ryan, former Ireland ladies rugby captain Fiona Coghlan, TV maitre’d and heart transplantee John Healy, RTE broadcaster and heart attack survivor Michael Lyster and Fair City actor Bryan Murray.
