THE Rotunda Hospital has been named Ireland’s Maternity Hospital of the Year for 2016.

The accolade was awarded to the Rotunda at the Irish Healthcare Centre Awards, held on March 11, for its exceptional patient care and comprehensive range of services.

The Rotunda demonstrated to judges successful new initiatives and innovations within the hospital. Patient feedback was also taken into consideration for the award, as was the introduction of new services and the hospital’s continuous training for doctors and nursing staff.

According to the judges, the Rotunda demonstrated a best in class approach to maternity services.

“The Rotunda Hospital demonstrated consistent and ongoing developments in the delivery and advancement of maternity patient care,” their appraisal read.

“Success stories were well-presented and laid out giving clear understanding of the questions asked.”

Master of the Rotunda, Professor Fergal Malone, said he was proud of all the hospital staff’s contribution to achieving this award.

“The projects that underpinned this award reflect the creativity, commitment and innovation of staff over a number of years,” he added.

“These projects include new initiatives, which our patients will continue to benefit from, for many years to come, and re-emphasize the role of the Rotunda as the Maternity Hospital of Choice in Ireland.”
