UP TO 100 new jobs are to be created at Accent Solutions in DCU’s Glasnevin Alpha Campus over the next two years it was announced last week.

The hi-tech company will increase its workforce to 133 by the end of the month with the number of staff expected to reach 230 by the end of next year.

Founded in 2012 by Anne Ita Ryan and Martin McMahon, Accent Solutions specialises in providing a range of engineering and facilities solutions to the commercial, data centres, manufacturing and public sectors.

DCU President, Prof Brian MacCraith, welcomed the announcement, and said Accent fits in well with the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cleantech cluster of companies established in the DCU Alpha Campus.

“We look forward to continued collaboration with Accent as they develop their business in Ireland,” he added.

Dublin West TD, John Lyons (Lab), said he was delighted that the jobs were being put in place over the coming months.

“Accent Solutions are an indigenous Irish company, and the organisation is 100 per cent owned by the employees,” he continued.

“That is what is most encouraging about this announcement, that local Irish firms are growing at such a healthy rate, while showing how to treat their employees well.

“As Vice-Chairperson of the Oireachtas Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, it is great to see that the recovery is working locally, and that we are seeing real life benefits of it in our community.”

Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, made last week’s announcement at the Alpha Campus.

During the visit she acknowledged the co-operation of Accent in assisting the Department of Social Protection by providing placements and work experience for jobseekers.

“This is a great day for a young company going from strength to strength,” she said.

“By adding 100 jobs, Accent Solutions will also contribute to the wider employment recovery that the Government is driving.

“We will soon have more than two million people at work, and that’s because of strong economic recovery and dynamic companies like Accent growing their business.”

Last month new plans to support 100 companies and 450 new jobs over the next three years at the DCU Alphoa campus were announced.
