Graveyard on the way in Dublin 15

FINGAL County Council has reached an agreement with landowners that will allow construction of a new graveyard in Dublin 15.

The news was confirmed last week by Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar,

“The graveyard will be located in the Kellystown area close to Luttrellstown Community College, and not far from Luttrellstown Castle,” the minister said. “There has been a need for a new graveyard for a number of years since space ran out in the Castleknock (St Brigid’s) and Clonsilla (St Mary’s) churchyards.

“There is a lot of space in Mulhuddart Graveyard but it is quite far from Castleknock, Clonsilla and Blanchardstown parish

“Planning and design on the new graveyard will begin immediately. It’s expected to have sufficient capacity for several decades.”

Tánaiste and Labour TD for Dublin West, Joan Burton, said she was pleased the graveyard plans had taken a major step forward.
