Airport departures road closed

THE Departures Road at Dublin Airport’s Terminal 1 is closed for a three-month period for essential maintenance, the DAA has announced.

The closure began on Monday (September 28) and the road will remain closed at least until the busy run-up to Christmas.

The work is weather dependent so could drag out until the end of December.

“The T1 Departures Road now needs a comprehensive upgrade and this can only be carried out safely by closing the road to all traffic,” said Siobhán O’Donnell, Dublin Airport’s Head of External Communications.

The DAA says the road is in urgent need of repair to prolong its life and address some ongoing drainage issues.

Dublin Airport will provide an alternative set down area for customers departing from Terminal 1 at the rear of the T1 multi-storey car park.

A dedicated traffic management system will also be in operation with signage and traffic marshals in place to assist the public throughout the works.
