Do not swim notice for Claremont Beach, Howth issued

A Do Not Swim notice has been issued for Claremont Beach, Howth.

In a statement, Fingal County Council said:

“Following receipt of today’s bathing water sample results, Claremont Beach, Howth has been classified as Poor.

“As a result of this classification, a Do Not Swim notice will be erected at Claremont Beach.

“A resample has been scheduled for tomorrow, 27 August 2026, and the results are expected to be available on Saturday, 29 August 2026.

“Investigations are currently being undertaken to identify any potential causes that may have contributed to these elevated bacterial levels.

“We will provide further updates as additional information becomes available.

“A further update will be issued once the resample results have been received.”
