Do Not Swim issued for Malahide Beach

Padraig Conlon 11 Aug 2026

Following notification from Uisce Éireann of an overflow at the Malahide Waste Water Treatment Plant, a DO NOT SWIM notice has been issued for Malahide Beach in consultation with the HSE.

The notice will remain in place for at least 3 days.

Resampling of the water is being arranged with results likely to be received later this week.

While the beach is still open to the public, beach users are asked to respect the ‘Do Not Swim’ notice as it has been put in place to ensure that the health of bathers is not compromised.

Members of the public can check for water quality at any of the monitored bathing waters in Ireland in advance by accessing the EPA website at https://www.beaches.ie/ or by checking the notice board at the entrance to each beach.
