An Inclusive watersports camp for children with additional needs is returning to Howth this summer, with participations numbers doubling since the programme first launched three years ago.
The initiative, delivered by Fingal Sports Office, Active Cities Dublin, Fingal Events, and Howth Yacht Club will provide 40 participants with the opportunity to experience a range of watersports in a safe, supportive and welcoming environment.
The programme is designed to ensure everyone can enjoy being active on the water, with each participant receiving dedicated 1:1 support to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

The camp is facilitated by Active Connections, whose experienced team works closely with participants to build confidence, independence and create positive and lasting connection with water sports.
Now in its third year, the collaboration has grown significantly, with participation numbers doubling since the first camp.
This expansion reflects the strong demand for accessible recreational opportunities and the continued commitment of the partner organisations to inclusive sport.
Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly said: It is wonderful to see the continued growth of the Inclusive Watersport Camp now in its third year.
Fingal is committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to participate fully in sports and enjoy our coastal environment.
We are proud to support programmes that breaks down barriers and create inclusive experiences for our communities.”
Kevin Monks, Commodore of Howth Yacht Club, welcomed the return of the programme and said: “We are delighted to once again host this fantastic initiative at Howth Yacht Club and make the water accessible to all members of our community.
“Seeing participants gain confidence, develop new skills and enjoy their time on the water is incredible.”
The watersports camp forms part of the wider Howth Maritime Festival, which celebrates the area’s maritime heritage while promoting community engagement and participation in marine activities.
