Local TD condemns arson attack at McAuley Park playground

Dublin Bay North TD Tom Brabazon has strongly condemned the vandalism and arson attack at the playground in McAuley Park, describing the incident as “disgusting and deeply upsetting for local families.”
Speaking following the damage caused to the playground, Deputy Brabazon said:
“I utterly condemn the disgraceful act of vandalism carried out at the playground in McAuley Park.
“This facility is hugely valued by local residents, particularly young families and children who use it every day.”
“To see a community amenity targeted and damaged in this way is extremely upsetting.
“Playgrounds are places where children should be able to play safely and where families can come together and enjoy themselves.
“Acts like this damage not only a local amenity but they also damage community spirit.”
Deputy Brabazon said local residents had expressed anger and disappointment at the incident.
“The community is disgusted by this. Residents take enormous pride in their local area and facilities like this are hard won and deeply appreciated,” he said.
“Those responsible for this behaviour have shown complete disregard for the local community and for the children who rely on these facilities.”
Deputy Brabazon also called for those responsible to be held accountable and for repairs to be carried out as quickly as possible.
“I hope those responsible are identified and held accountable for their actions.
“In the meantime, every effort must be made to restore the playground so local children are not deprived of an important community resource.
“Communities across Dublin Bay North work hard to improve local amenities and build positive spaces for young people.
“We cannot allow vandalism and anti-social behaviour to undermine that work.”
